The Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Oahu SPCA) is seeking a part-time or full-time veterinarian. This position will help fulfill our mission of humanely reducing the number of homeless animals by providing sterilization and veterinary care to shelter and client owned animals. The available position entails shifts at our Wahiawa shelter (in the wellness department or high-volume spay/neuter surgery department) and/or our vaccine clinics located at the Petco stores across Oahu.
We are a non-profit no kill shelter seeking a veterinarian that is compassionate, detail oriented, works well in a team, shares knowledge to fellow staff members, and is passionate about furthering our mission. The ability to perform additional procedures (such as enucleations, amputations, mass removals, dentals…) is desired, but not required. An individual able to work during the weekends would be given preference.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Examine patients pre-op to approve for surgery
Perform high volume surgical sterilizations
Aid technicians with monitoring anesthesia and direct CPR when indicated
Oversee recovery of anesthetized patients
Provide wellness and preventative care for animals in shelter
Uphold ethical standards to provide humane care to all patients
Understand and help control spread of common infectious diseases within the shelter.
8 hour shifts for wellness or surgery shifts. 5-6 hour shifts for the vaccine clinic.

Qualifications:
Degree in veterinary medicine from an accredited school of veterinary medicine.
