Working with the Publisher and BSAVA to maintain a strategy for the development of JSAP, to maintain/increase the status and visibility of JSAP, and ensure that JSAP fulfils its aims and serves the readers in its field.
Communicating regularly with the wider Editorial Board concerning the development of JSAP, editorial strategy, submissions, and promotion.
Commissioning editorials and other contributions or features as appropriate.
Reviewing, renewing, and managing the Associate Editor team and Editorial Board on a regular basis, and working with the Publisher and BSAVA to make additional appointments and/or changes to the team as needed and to achieve an active and diverse representation of the community JSAP serves, mentoring new members as needed.
Ensuring that JSAP’s policies and workflows are inclusive for the communities it serves.
Attending and contributing to editorial meetings, where appropriate, in collaboration with the Publisher and BSAVA.
Selecting, alongside the Editorial Board, winners of the annual JSAP ‘Best Paper’ awards, and if available, presenting these awards on behalf of JSAP at BSAVA Congress.
The successful candidate would be expected to take up the post from early 2025 to facilitate an overlap period with the outgoing Editor-in-Chief. This a fixed term post with a maximum of 5 years. There is an annual honorarium for the role.
