Animal Protection League, a non-profit organization located deep in the heart of East Texas, is seeking a part-time or full-time veterinarian! We are passionate when it comes to our mission and we are proud to offer high quality, affordable services to the surrounding East Texas communities now and for the past 25 years. Since we first began our efforts, we have spayed/neutered over 200,000 pets and that number grows larger every year. We have expanded our program and need to add another wonderful veterinarian to our amazing team!
Do you want a balanced work/life schedule?
Do you want shorter days, less stress, and limited client interaction?
Do you hate turning patients away due to financial constraints?
Do you want to be free of after-hours duties and emergencies?
Do you enjoy surgery?
If you answered yes, APL is the place for you! Animal Protection League only offers spay/neuter and wellness for cats and dogs (vaccinations, heartworm/FeLV/FIV testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, deworming, microchipping, nail trims, anal gland expressions). Our ideal candidate must be comfortable with pregnant, cryptorchid, and pediatric surgeries or willing to learn. A typical surgical caseload is approximately 20-40 pets per day. We set strict parameters for our clients regarding their pets; we do not schedule pets that are over the age of 6 years old, over 80 pounds, have a history of neurologic disease, etc. A typical day starts around 9:30 am and ends around 2:30 pm as long as all surgeries are done.
We strive to maintain great relationships with our local veterinarians and all sick/injured pets are referred to private practice. We use Avimark software (migrating to EVet), Miltex surgical instruments, and name brand suture.

Animal Protection League is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization offering high quality, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to the East Texas area for the past 25 years. We have three stationary offices as well as three fully equipped mobile surgical units that travel to 27 other East Texas locations. Animal Protection League's main goal is to minimize the magnitude of senseless euthanasia occurring in surrounding animal shelters by providing a low cost option for spay/neuter services, as many in the community cannot afford such services otherwise.
