Fountain City Animal Hospital has been ahead of its time from the beginning. Our practice owner was the first female veterinarian Knoxville had ever seen in 1977, and we were the first female-owned practice in town, having opened our doors back in 1979. Work-life balance has been a concept close to our hearts as early as 1982, when our practice owner gave birth to her first child and suddenly understood deeply how important it is to be able to have a life away from work. We began employing fear-free techniques long before it became fashionable and continue to hone our skills in that area.
Aside from being located in beautiful East Tennessee with its proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, within Knoxville, the Fountain City neighborhood is special in its own way. Many of our clients have been with us for decades, witnessed by the reality that many children who came with their parents long ago now visit with their own families and pets. Additionally though, we have a substantial clientele whose trust in us is deep enough that they travel from all over Knoxville to use our services. From the beginning we've enjoyed a highly respected reputation in the community, as well as with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Tennessee and the surrounding private specialty practices with whom we cooperate on a regular basis.
Now we're searching for another dedicated compassionate vet to join us. The professional staff at Fountain City Animal Hospital truly do work as a team. We joke about practicing "medicine by consensus,” as we routinely share in the creative process of solving those complicated medical cases. We leave our egos at the door but come to work with a can-do attitude. We have a full in-house lab, digital radiology, well-equipped surgery and dental suites with dental x-ray, excellent monitoring equipment for our anesthetized patients, ultrasound that we use daily for abdominal studies as well as echocardiograms, and an upbeat and willing support staff. We have many decades of experience in the building at any one time and have happily mentored new graduates, but if you’ve been out for a while, we would welcome your additional expertise as well.
Annual salary will be commensurate with your experience and skills. We offer a benefit package that includes full coverage of your medical insurance, a 401k with profit-sharing, continuing education fees, paid vacation time, and a very generous personal pet care program.
At least two years experience is desired but not mandatory.
