Chesapeake Neurology and Imaging of the Chesapeake is seeking a Hospital Administrator with veterinary management experience or experience in a medical health field. Candidates that have experience managing specialty hospitals, multiple locations and have an interest in Marketing is a plus! The successful candidate would be master’s preferred, (MBA) or have a four-year business degree and Veterinary Management Certification (CPVM) or equivalent. Chesapeake Neurology and Imaging of the Chesapeake is an established, trusted and state-of-the art diagnostics surgery and referral hospital located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis is located on the Chesapeake Bay and is famous for the Naval Academy, historic culture and Blue Crabs. The practice is owned and managed by Dr. Jay McDonnell, DACVIM (Neurology). The Hospital Administrator reports directly to the President, Dr. McDonnell. The ideal candidate would have an understanding of all administrative tasks including but not limited to Project Management, Administrative Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, Marketing and Management of the Specialty Veterinarians as well as all support and medical staff. Strong delegation skills are necessary to achieve optimum success. RESPONSIBILITIES - Understands and manages all aspects of the Human Resources Department. This includes but is not limited to: hiring, discharges, disciplinary actions, reviews, personnel files, training, establishing and maintain a salary structure, communication, staff meetings, staff events, staff scheduling, OSAH regulations, Federal and State Labor Laws.
- Understands and manages all financial interests and goals of the practice. This includes but is not limited to: daily processing of financial transactions, understands and develops benchmarks, understands profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Develops and adheres to hospital budget(s) including Capital Expenditures. Is able to maintain a fee structure, ensure regular audits and institute fee changes.
- Understands and manages Hospital Operations. This includes but is not limited to: hospital administrative and medical protocols. Client scheduling, client services, pharmacy and inventory including DEA protocols. Works with the medical staff and the Practice Owner to maintain, establish and update operational protocols and to meet regularly with the medical team to communicate any proposed operational and/or staffing changes that may affect their service and be open to their input.
- Understands and Manages all aspects of Administration duties. This includes providing leadership to all direct reports. Be a partner to the Hospital owner in strategic planning, marketing and developing long and short-term goals. Manages all legal matters and ensures the hospital is up to date with all insurances, licenses, etc. Demonstrates ability to handle all concerns, staff, referral veterinarians, and clients.
